Frequently Asked QuestionsCan (I), the current account holder, get out of (my), the current account holder’s contract if I find someone else to take over for the remainder of the time I agreed?
Answer: Yes. This is called a change of responsibility. The person taking over the contract may be required to finish out the agreed term. However, the new customer may not be required to keep the contract at the previously agreed price.
Does the client being referred have to initiate a new contract or just fulfill (my), the current account holder’s obligation?
Answer: The new client is not required to initiate a new contract. You are merely fulfilling the previous clients term. Example: If the person you swapped contracts with has only 30 days left, then you have 30 days left in your contract.

If I were already out of contract why would I sign up for Service Flip?
In this case you would still have a huge benefit, because initially you may get out of paying activation fees. Besides after you swap, you may decide you are not happy with your new provider and want to swap back or to another company. With Service Flip you are able to make as many swaps for life and currently there is no fee per swap.
If I only had three months left in my contract and the person I elect to swap with decided to sign a new 2-year contract instead of swapping with me, would I still be held liable for my 3 months?
Answer: Yes. If you choose to do a swap, then you need to swap. If the new client elects to initiate a new contract no one will be relieved from responsibility, and they are still paying activation fees, and you will still have your remaining three-month agreement. This is not recommended!
If the new client swaps FIRST and assumes your responsibility, then they are free to extend the contract for an additional two years or whatever they choose.
Would the new client be able to keep their phone number they had with the previous company they were with?
Answer: Some companies will allow you to port your number over. In order to find out, you may want to contact the service provider.
Will I qualify for new phone discounts, or will they be held under the previous account holders’ eligibility?
Answer: If the prior account holder is eligible for a new phone (equipment upgrade), and has not used it yet, then you should be eligible for that same equipment upgrade. Only one person may use this upgrade.
Are they liable for (my), the previous account holders’ fees or unpaid bills?
Answer: Whatever bills or expenses were accrued with the previous account holder should stay with the previous account holder.
If (I), the previous account holder had an expensive family plan can I still use service flip?
Answer: If you have a family plan, you need to swap all lines together.
Will the new client have to go through a credit check and or leave a deposit?
Answer: Most companies require the credit check; the terms and conditions are the same in regards to deposit. The only thing that changes through serviceflip.com will be the fact that you will not pay cancellation fees.
How long will the process take to swap contracts with someone else?
Answer: If you both meet at the cellular store, or at the local mall kiosks then you can do it all in a matter of minutes. However, if you do the swap as a conference call over the phone, then it may take 3 to 5 business days for the cellular company to do the necessary credit checks etc.
Do I need to have a phone with the company I am interested in going to prior to doing the swap?
Answer: Yes. You should definitely get a phone and have it ready BEFORE you do the swap. If you cant find the phone you want, just get a cheap phone to get you over until you can find what you want or until you can utilize an equipment upgrade if available.
